ECCC Post-Con Update*
Hello, everyone!
EmeraldCityComiCon is in the books and it was a rousing success! To all of you who came out to visit and support us at the convention, we’re all incredibly grateful to you… and to our new friends that we made during the convention, you guys ROCK!
For those of you who didn’t get to see us, here’s a picture of our awesome table in the Artist’s Alley, courtesy of the inimitable Ren Cummins!

We also had the chance to go on stage in the big panel room at the convention, following Adam Baldwin’s panel, and preceding the Phelps twins (Fred & George Weasley from the Harry Potter movies for the uninitiated!). In front of a packed house of 3000+ sci-fi and fantasy fans, Ren and I got to give brief explanations of our books and invited people to visit us… and they did! I’m hoping to get a copy of the footage, and will post it here when I have it in hand.
The winners of our Talaria Press Complete Library Giveaway have been drawn and I will be emailing the winners in the next day or two to inform them of their incredible luck. If you didn’t win, we all still thank you all for signing up for the newsletter. We look forward to keeping you up to date with our new releases, author appearances, and other cool stuff!
Again, thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting your local and independent artists. We’re both humbled and incredibly gratified by the positive responses we got!

Things to come – 2012
2012. Is it just me or does it seem like time is speeding up? It seems like just yesterday, I was 18 years old and looking to take on the world.
A lot has changed for me in the almost 20 years between then and now. My mother passed away, I met my husband, and relocated from the deserts of Arizona to the Pacific Northwest. Maybe it’s strange, but by and large, I have very few regrets about my life, and maybe that’s because I’m naïve, but I prefer to think it’s because I accept that even the bad things that happened have made me into the person that I am today… and, for the most part, I’m pretty happy with myself as a person.
2011 was a pretty big year, both good and bad. I was laid off from my day job, which sucked… but I took it as an opportunity and ran with it. Between looking for jobs and the occasional interview, I wrote and published my second novel and banged out the third which is now in the thick of the rewrite process. I also helped edit my husband’s first novel, formatted said novel for both ebook and print formats, and helped him set up his blog and other social media promotional outlets. I also participated in breaking ground, so to speak, on a new small press with Garth, another fantastic author we know, Ren Cummins, and editor extraordinaire, Quiana Kirkland.
So how does one follow up a year like 2011? You continue to turn the volume up to 11, that’s how!
Here’s a sneak preview of what you can expect to see:
- Shomu: Sekhmet’s Light, Book Three
- The Sekhmet’s Light Trilogy Omnibus edition
- The Days Upon the Year (a collection of 5 short stories/novellas set in the Sekhmet’s Light universe to fill in some backstories that were alluded to but not explored in the series)
- The Talaria Press Founder’s Anthology which collects stories from me, Garth, Ren, and even Quiana in a single volume!
- Emerald City ComiCon appearances by me, Garth, and Ren
- And finally, I’m hoping to have time to break ground on a whole NEW series of supernatural thriller novels!
Cripes, seeing it all spelled out like that, 2012 is going to be even busier than I expected, especially considering that I’m still looking for a new day job. Well, I guess all we can do is rip that volume knob right off and rock on!

Emerald City ComiCon
It’s that time of year again. Emerald City ComiCon is fast approaching and I have to say I’m insanely excited about some of the stuff that we’ve got going on this year.
We’ve got some SUPER cool guests appearing this year, including Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner! We’ve also got a slew of other Star Trek alums showing up, including Brent “Data” Spiner, Jonathan “Riker” Frakes, and con favorite Wil Wheaton!
In addition, this year will be a treat for Buffy fans as we have THREE members of the cast coming, including the uber-delicious James “Spike” Marsters, Nicholas “Xander” Brendon, and Clare “Glory” Kramer!
Additionally, we have some other cool folks showing up: John Noble (from Fringe and the Lord of the Rings trilogy), Jasika Nicole (also from Fringe), Felicia Day and Amy Okuda (from the Guild), Bruce Boxleitner (from Tron, Tron: Legacy, and Babylon 5) and, perhaps MY favorite surprise of the year, Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus. That’s right, kids…. THE BOONDOCK SAINTS!
There’s going to be lots of amazing stuff going on, including a screening of Boondock Saints with Norman and Sean, Q&As with all the media guests, a masquerade and costume contest, and a concert with James Marsters at the Hard Rock Cafe.
I’m a regular volunteer at the con and this year, I’m thrilled to say, I’ll be heading up Team Wheaton, so anyone who heads through his line will get the bonus of a H.L. Reasby sighting! ;)
Finally, I DO have some copies of Akhet on-hand and I will have them with me so anyone who wants to make arrangements to purchase a signed copy, drop me a line at heather.reasby@gmail.com and we can work that out!
Hope to see you all at the show!
Heather
