Emerald City ComiCon
It’s that time of year again. Emerald City ComiCon is fast approaching and I have to say I’m insanely excited about some of the stuff that we’ve got going on this year.
We’ve got some SUPER cool guests appearing this year, including Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner! We’ve also got a slew of other Star Trek alums showing up, including Brent “Data” Spiner, Jonathan “Riker” Frakes, and con favorite Wil Wheaton!
In addition, this year will be a treat for Buffy fans as we have THREE members of the cast coming, including the uber-delicious James “Spike” Marsters, Nicholas “Xander” Brendon, and Clare “Glory” Kramer!
Additionally, we have some other cool folks showing up: John Noble (from Fringe and the Lord of the Rings trilogy), Jasika Nicole (also from Fringe), Felicia Day and Amy Okuda (from the Guild), Bruce Boxleitner (from Tron, Tron: Legacy, and Babylon 5) and, perhaps MY favorite surprise of the year, Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus. That’s right, kids…. THE BOONDOCK SAINTS!
There’s going to be lots of amazing stuff going on, including a screening of Boondock Saints with Norman and Sean, Q&As with all the media guests, a masquerade and costume contest, and a concert with James Marsters at the Hard Rock Cafe.
I’m a regular volunteer at the con and this year, I’m thrilled to say, I’ll be heading up Team Wheaton, so anyone who heads through his line will get the bonus of a H.L. Reasby sighting! ;)
Finally, I DO have some copies of Akhet on-hand and I will have them with me so anyone who wants to make arrangements to purchase a signed copy, drop me a line at heather.reasby@gmail.com and we can work that out!
Hope to see you all at the show!

Updates
It occurs to me that I haven’t actually given you all a large update on my progress lately.
I’ve wrapped work on the rough draft of the second book in the Sekhmet’s Light trilogy, Peret, and have begun working on the revisions requested by my editor (also known as my husband and cover artist) and have found the going to be surprisingly painless. I think that my readers will be pleased with the direction that the sequel to Akhet is going; it’s darker, harder edged, and puts Nicole in different and more dangerous situations. It also gives people more of a glimpse into the culture and relationships between the gods.
I’m roughly a third of the way through the revisions and I am actually somewhat ahead of schedule for getting the book ready for publication by the end of the year which should make those who’ve been asking happy (Yes, Douglas, I’m looking at you too on this one!).
Garth and I have been kicking around ideas for the cover art and have a few potentials, but we haven’t really committed to anything as yet. Hopefully, he’ll be able to get started on the rough sketches of the art in the next week or so.
Also, on a happy and totally unexpected note, I had a minor geek-girl freakout earlier when I got a message from Twitter telling me that one of my favorite actors, Edward James Olmos (That’s right, Admiral Adama himself!) is following me. Now… I’m not usually one to get all fan-girlish over celebrities (Stan Lee is the only one I’ve met so far that actually got that reaction), but I have to admit, I almost started hyperventilating when I got the message. To say that I’m thrilled to have a Renaissance man of EJO’s caliber watching my Twitter feed is incredibly gratifying and humbling.
All-in-all, it’s a happy day in the Reasby household!
